The nickname of Connecticut is "The Constitution State".

This nickname was adopted by the Connecticut General Assembly in 1959.

It is believed that ideas for the writing of the Constitution of the United States were drawn from the first constitution of Connecticut ("The Fundamental Orders" of 1638-39).
